After founding/growing Scubazoo in Sabah, Malaysian Borneo in 1995 with hundreds of TV broadcast credits and 22 employees at full strength across Malaysia, Indonesia and Maldives; Simon conceived and has grown Blu Hope to fast-track deep impact conservation and protect marine biodiversity by stopping plastic pollution and destructive fishing, fully aligning with UN Oceans and Restoration Decade (2021-2030) Alongside stopping fish bombing - the 'poster-child' of destructive fishing, Blu Hope’s primary goal is to tackle one of the most intractable global environmental problems - plastic pollution, introducing ground-breaking up-cycling technologies to Blu Hope’s ‘Plastic Neutral’ and ‘Fish-Bomb-Free’ platforms to create new alternative, localised circular plastic economies, and sustainable waste management for the most marginalised coastal fishing communities, including Bajau Laut ‘sea gypsies’ in the heart of the Coral Triangle. Blu Hope launched its ambitious Coral Triangle Plastic Neutral platform during World Ocean, Coral Triangle Day June 2021 together with ‘Godfather of the Coral Triangle', Nobel Laureate Timor-Leste President, Dr Jose`Ramos-Horta - and will launch its Global Plastic Neutral Challenge/Race with multiple partners supporting soon.
