As a research associate, I worked on a variety of initiatives entering the Media Ethics Lab, ranging from interactive workshops to publishing papers on digital equity, literacy, and media ecosystems. For example, we recently hosted a group of outstanding U of T students and supported them in designing original tools for advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals (report forthcoming). Currently in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, I'm working on an advisory for civil society organizations, private businesses, and individuals responding to the virus. Our message is that many are surviving today without access to accurate information and without access to the Internet, period. Serving as a focal point for information related to academic programs, research, and public policy initiatives in the field, the Media Ethics Lab fosters open research, integrated learning, and civic engagement, to explore the potential that information and communication technologies hold for enacting positive social change.

As a business owner at Dockside Delivery, one of the most important aspects was customer care. Everything followed from keeping up to date with customer needs and eventually maintaining a catalog online where we advertised.From the first days on the job, I reached customers with printed brochures and email. After several years and additions to the staff, we used MailChimp to direct a significant volume of online sales on the website in the pre-season (we were a summer business), while continuing to market with brochures and free trials during the season. Background: Dockside Delivery was a print-news subscription business on Lake Muskoka, which offered the Globe and Mail, Toronto Star, National Post, and the Sunday New York Times to regular clients, 6 days a week. Additional delivery services were provided as well. We strived to maintain good customer service, early deliveries, reasonable prices, environmentally friendly solutions, as well as an effective business plan. After nine years of service, Dockside closed its doors in 2018.
