Simon established MediaPaedia in August 2011 after five and a half years at TopUp TV, the UK's innovative DTT Pay TV network. As C.O.O at GoMedia, the leading transport infotainment provider, Simon has led the operational expansion of the platform to include Virgin Trains and Eurostar. Prior to TopUp, Simon was SVP - Technology and Operations at Showtime, the pan-Arabic DTH operator.. returning from the UAE to familiar territory in the UK's DTT environment, Simon was responsible for Top Up TV's platform operation and development including I.T. and all media technology. Simon is also a member of the IET's Communications Policy Panel which contributes to the preparation of external policy and advice to Government and Parliament.Simon joined WPSChallenger as CTO and a principal of the fund in 2013. Working on projects such as the ground-breaking Zume platform, Simon was responsible for the company's Technical Operations, Diligence, Development, Strategy and Representation. Concentrating on investments in Digital Media, Online and Mobile Gaming and Big Data.Prior to his Showtime career, Simon was CTO at ITV and ITV Digital, where he was responsible for broadcast and media-tech operations and development, IT operations and industry government liaison. Previous posts include Director of Channel Development for Granada, Director of Broadcasting for GSkyB, and Managing Editor, BBC Worldwide Television. Already a qualified electronic engineer, he began his media life at the BBC where he trained as a radio sound engineer.
