Contentious probate, property and trust lawyer

Simon specialises property and probate litigation. Educated in Scotland, where he first practised as a solicitor, Simon and his wife, Jackie, moved to Yorkshire in 1999. Simon re-qualified to practice as a solicitor in England & Wales and has worked for Chadwick Lawrence since 2005. On the property side, Simon is involved in cases concerning rights over land. Although boundary and right of way disputes form a part of his caseload, he has obtained substantial damages for a land owner whose former advisor failed to complete a planning agreement that resulted in the loss of planning permission for a residential development. He has also acted for land owners in disputes with telecommunications companies and in the judicial review of acts of local authorities. As regards probate litigation, Simon acts for those who claim that they have been inadequately provided for on the death of a relative and in other challenges to the validity of Wills. Most successfully, on the death of an elderly client's step-parent he obtained significant compensation for a wrongful disinheritance.
