Returning full time to the design industry in 2012 - after spending two and a half years working as a contract administrator and estimator in the commercial fitout industry, as well as running my own interior design practice part time - I found myself in an enviable position as I had been exposed to a vast wealth of knowledge on both sides of the industry. Added to my previous seven years experience working on an extensive range of exciting hospitality, retail and commercial projects both in Australia and Europe, I am knowledgeable in all of the many stages that make a project a reality. These stages include client briefing, schematic design, design development, consultant coordination, tendering, statutory approvals, and construction documentation before site set-up. Once on site I have experience in construction procedures, chairing project committee group (PCG) meetings, issuing contractor instructions, evaluation of progress claims and conducting defects inspections to name a few.JUO is a boutique building and interior design practice, with 21 years’ combined experience across a diverse range of residential, commercial, retail and hospitality projects. JUO is an amalgamation of my previous practice, Simon Jacobs’ interior design and the internationally award winning building design practice, Kerry Chong Design.We have a clear ethos of maintaining a small studio in order to deliver the best service possible to our clients.
