In the role of Engineering Manager (Storage & Transmission) I am responsible for managing the engineering of Energy Storage and Solar projects and the technical relationship with suppliers and sub contractors• Global Engineering Lead for Energy Storage, responsible for engineering best practice and design worldwide, on both grid scale and commercial and industrial storage applications.• Directed successful competitive Energy Storage tender bids and played a key role in winning new business. • Responsible for a department budget of circa £1m, including financial reporting and internal P&L.• Product manager responsible for specification, design, development and implementation of the RESolve Energy Management System, controlling over 50MW of Energy Storage Systems worldwide. • Produced the technical specification and undertook technical tender evaluation for large scale solar farms working closely with sub contractors and customers to deliver the best solution at the lowest price.

Responsible for building, integrating and leading the Engineering, Technical, Estimating, Quality and After Sales functions for Biomass and PV technologies, as well as taking a hands-on approach as the Senior Engineer within the business.Grew the technical capability of the organisation, through recruitment of high calibre graduates and experienced contractors to build an experienced yet dynamic team. Widened capability from being a renewables specialist to a multi disciplinary contractor Developed the award winning Green Heat Module product line of prefabricated plant rooms, designed to maximise revenue return from the Renewable Heat Incentive. Over 15 units sold in just over one year, increasing company revenue per project by 50%.Leading the business through the ISO9001 accreditation process, by developing a quality management system that is compliant with both ISO9001 and MCS.Designed large scale solar farms and building integrated installations, working closely with suppliers and customers to deliver the best solution at the lowest price.

Initiated and led a cross company software integration project, combining vibration, drilling simulation and geological modelling tools to deliver vastly improved performance prediction and design optimisation.

Responsible for the development of novel and innovative drilling technologies, leading the Design and Production engineering departments, managing a team of four managers and over 60 professional engineers and technicians. Led a cross functional team responsible for rewriting the company’s Product Development Process to improve communication, reduce lead times and improve performance evaluation. Project completed and successfully implemented in 6 months.Oversight of an annual operating budget of $6m.Implemented and led a project to introduce modular architecture to the design and manufacture of drill bits, with the intent of allowing a broad array of product variants to be produced with minimal engineering input, allowing rapid response to customer demands and improved inventory management.

Built the team from an inexperienced group of graduates and field experienced engineers to a well functioning team.Introduced TRIZ innovation methods to all Engineering teams internationally, making time for engineers to innovate through structured idea development sessions, substantially increasing the number of innovations produced per year.Introduced CFD software, bringing new design knowledge and concepts to the organisation.Led a significant vibration reduction project, resulting in the Titan Fixed Cutter line of large diameter drill bits that delivered a Saudi record on the first field trial, and record breaking performance in other applications around the globe, leading to increased annual revenue of $17m.Undertook a development project that led to a $40M revenue increase in a single year by designing the first PDC drill bit to successfully drill the ultra tough Travis Peak formation in East Texas.Authored and presented technical papers at prestigious international conferences, including the Society of Petroleum Engineers annual conference in Miami.
