Having served a three year Carpentry and Joinery apprenticeship whilst working with my Father I accepted a job as a time and motion officer for the local authority in Bury St Edmunds. I held this position, which came with a lot of in house training, for a year at which point I applied for a job as a carpentry and joinery instructor at West Suffolk Youth Skills, which was funded by the county council. I was successful in getting the position and spent a year teaching carpentry and joinery to school leavers, a very rewarding job!At this stage I decided to start my own business, a gamble I know but I was young and ready for a real challenge. I have built my company slowly over the years and trade very much on our reputation for providing a high quality service with very good after sales. Over the years my staff members have all benefitted from training, both in house and at the West Suffolk College and last year as a result we received the 'Investors in people' award, something I am very proud of. We have now traded for over twenty years in Bury St Edmunds, next year one of my sons is also looking to join the business and help take it forward.
