Simon is a Director in KPMG’s Accounting Advisory Services. This team provides technical advice and support on accounting and financial reporting matters assisting clients to implement new standards, determine the appropriate financial reporting treatment for complex transactions, transition to changing reporting frameworks, and generally keep up to date with a changing financial reporting environment. Simon has more than 20 years in technical financial reporting. He has worked in the public sector, for standard setting organisations in New Zealand and internationally. Since joining KPMG Simon has been involved in providing advice direct to clients and in support of KPMG engagement teams across a range of industries, including government and not-for-profit organisations, regulatory bodies, energy and resource companies, and communications and infrastructure companies. Prior to joining KPMG in 2007 Simon was the Director - Accounting Standards at the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants and worked for the Financial Reporting Standards Board – the board responsible for developing NZ IFRS. In particular he had responsibility for the FRSB’s Public Benefit Entity Working Group - the Working Group charged with considering financial reporting implications and developing NZ specific material relevant to public sector and not-for-profit entities on adoption of NZIFRS.Simon was also Technical Advisor to the New Zealand member of the International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board of the International Federation of Accountants (IPSASB) from 2003 - 2006. He retains a close interest in the activities of the IPSASB and New Zealand’s involvement with the IPSASB.From 1999 to 2001 was based in New York where he was Technical Manager to the International Federation of Accountants International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board (formerly IFAC Public Sector Committee). Simon is a member of Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand.
