Responsible for the CONTEST (Prepare and Protect) elements of the organisation’s risk management process, thereby contributing to organisational preparedness and resilience.Multiple strands to the role, including: Risk Analysis by location and time (impact and likelihood); design and implementation of targeted protective security measures; security audit; CT awareness training (creation of bespoke/localised solutions, and delivery); engagement with internal and external stakeholders to increase awareness and thereby drive improvements in security culture, as well as seeking opportunities to improve situational awareness and burden share; creation and maintenance of CT focussed policy, plans and procedures; design and delivery of tactical, operational and strategic level exercises to test the organisation’s response and thus provide assurance, lessons and identify further improvement activity.

Responsible for training, management, coordination and operational output of the Coastal Rescue Teams within Area 14 (West Wales).

During this period I focused on improving governance, assurance and policy, and instigated a rolling process of continuous improvement. This was preceded by a unique 6-month deployment in an extremely challenging J1, 4, 5, 8 role as well as being XO/MA to a UK 1*, on the Eastern fringes of the Mediterranean. Responsibilities included budget and resource management, emergency planning, HR and other support functions.Prior to deployment, I was responsible for conducting a complex 4-month policy revision task for Air Command. Other roles have included: - OC Force Protection and Deputy Media and Communications Officer at RAF Cosford; - Deputy Squadron Commander of the Training Squadron at the RAF Force Protection Centre; - Counter Surface-to-Air Fire (C-SAFIRE) Training Team Commander delivering capacity building activity across North Africa and the Levant in support of HM Government CT objectives; - Senior Operations Officer on No 2 FP Wing HQ, delivering deployed-force risk management activities in Iraq, Afghanistan, and training delivery and policy support to other units, NATO and the European Air Group; - Officer Commanding the RAF element of the Technical Response Force (homeland and maritime counter-terrorism) and Nuclear Accident Response Organisation Flight; - Commander of the UK Sampling and Identification of Biological, Chemical and Radiological Agents (SIBCRA) Military Sampling Team.
