CurrentAs a Research Engineer in the Automated Layup Team, we push the ‘Art of the Possibility’ by manufacturing customer parts and technology demonstrators by Automated Fibre Placement technology.Working alongside stakeholders, customers and internal capability groups we use expert knowledge and state of the art equipment to support the highest level of IP development through machine learning and process optimisation.Robotic research continues to advance the art of the possibility for aerospace products to be manufactured at next generation production rates. The National Composites Centre Ultra High Rate Deposition Cell is one prime example where advances in robotics and cell automation are enabling manufacturing throughput of composite wing structures that satisfy rate, performance, and cost criteria for future build programs. I’m extremely proud to be working at the cutting edge of futuristic aerospace automation programs that have real world impact on future aircraft design.
