By original training and professional experience I am a research scientist with a long standing interest in solving a range of problems in computational chemistry and physics, mainly arising in chemical engineering contexts. I have over my career published a large volume of material in national and international journals and have presented at many conferences and other forums over that time. I have worked in academia, private sector laboratories and as an officer of the Commonwealth. The problems I have worked on in my research include:Calculation of reaction and phase equilibria in complex mixtures;Parameterization of nonlinear implicit models defined by simultaneous equations;Solution of linear and nonlinear partial differential equations describing various transport processes in porous media; Transformation of slowly-converging Fourier series arising in the analytical solutions of problems in potential theory.I have also had a lifelong interest in music, and achieved a high degree of proficiency as a performer on the pianoforte, with a particular interest in the baroque and classical repertoire. I have had significant experience as an accompanist, and in the performance of chamber music.
Listed skills include Applied Mathematics, Mathematical Modeling, Thermodynamics, Electrochemistry, and 13 others.
