• Indirect Resource / Urgent Dispatcher
• Dispatching indirect resources such as Community First Responders, Staff Responders & Co-Responders to 999 calls & where appropriate (breathing difficulties, chest pains, cardiac arrests etc) to be first on scene with.
• Making autonomous decisions with the limited information available at the time of the call and updating them when further information comes in.
• Dispatching on Urgent admissions (pt’s that have been triaged by a Health Care Professional & require non emergency transfer to a hospital within a set time frame). This involves looking after up to 6 ambulance crews.
• Ensuring the scene is safe for attending crews & persons on scene..

• When answering a 999 call, a priority dispatch system was used to ask vital point questions & determine what the main problem was at the time of the call. Using this, the call was prioritised to ensure that correct.
• Dealing with persons in an extremely emotional state from various backgrounds, cultures, religions & a variety of ages, and controlling the call so that the relevant information can be gained from them.
• Assisting the Dispatcher, passing jobs and appropriate information to crews, liaison with other emergency services and dealing with any non emergency calls made to the Ambulance Service.
• Training staff to competent 999 call taker level
• Excellent knowledge of in-house CAD(Computer Aided Dispatch) system.
