Responsibility for the organisation's communications and marketing, both internally and externally, at an operational and strategic level. As a core member of the senior management team, I have direct responsibility for all data management/analysis (mostly around engagement and other metrics), our digital platforms, external advertising sales, sponsorship, branding, the University on-site print shop and other new business initiatives. I also act as the data protection officer for the Students' Union where I have operational responsibility for keeping the organisation GDPR compliant and auditing of data streams to maintain data integrity. The role also encompasses a research element where analyse survey projects and produce written reports on the findings. I manage a small team of creative and digital-based roles, along with a wider range of student staff. I hold operational and management responsibility across a range of budgets in excess of £700,000. This role reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer of Bucks Students' Union.The strategic impact of this role is multi-layered. For instance, I have developed a robust process for monitoring KPIs and improving the links to our strategic plan. I have also established several new business initiatives that have diversified commercial income streams for the organisation. This has specifically included ‘seeding’ new business ideas, putting together detailed business cases to operational running. The initiative that has probably had the highest strategic impact is the processes that I have put in place for collecting and analysing engagement data. The impact of this is wide-ranging and touches all departments and services across the organisation by providing a more streamlined approach to how we handle data and how it informs internal discussions. We also routinely look at this data to identify areas where we can improve engagement and link this to market research activities and understanding our membership better.

This was a newly created role, primarily focusing on branding, maintaining digital networks, including the organisation's website, and designing of all printed materials. As this was a newly created role, it reported directly into the Chief Executive Officer of Bucks Students' Union.The strategic impact of this role was providing a newly formed and functional communications and marketing service within the Students’ Union. It also helped us identify the importance and value that communications could have on the organisation and how we could use this to better engage with our diverse membership.

Creative director within a self start-up 'boutique' web and creative agency, with responsibility for all web, print and digital marketing materials. Across the past few years, we've had a strong emphasis on generating new business leads, building an excellent working relationship with our clients and providing first-rate customer service. I have direct responsibility for various different projects - ranging from one-off documents right through to larger scale branding projects - and delivering these right through from concept stage to printed material.

As Assistant Manager, I was responsible for various different staff roles, stock management, cashing-up, security, health and safety and staff training.

Heriot-Watt University Students’ Union is a charity with a £1m turnover which seeks to improve the student experience for Heriot-Watt University students. As an elected full-time sabbatical officer role, I was responsible for the commercial service areas of the Union, including an on-campus shop, a strong events programme and the food and beverage teams. I was a part of the Union's Executive team, chaired various internal meetings and represented the Union at various meetings within the University. I gained a range of different skills through this position and was able to put into good practise several core areas from my degree. I directly line-managed six full-time staff and was responsible for a larger number of part-time staff and volunteers.

I worked at Chain Reaction Cycles at various points across a three-year period during vacations breaks from my degree. I was mainly based within the warehouses and looked after checking stock, allocating stock space within the warehouse, general upkeep and picking sales orders.
