Configuration Engineer
CurrentI am part of a team responsible for delivering a key element of the configuration management activity for the T45 Destroyers by maintaining the registers of ‘lifed’ items in order to underpin the safety case for the T45 Destroyers. This role requires facilitation of the cross-enterprise activity required to keep the registers up to date, ensuring the integrity of the data and related certification, providing regular status reporting and progressive improvement of the service provided to the enterprise. The information on the Certificates for Hoses, Pressure Relief Valves, Pressure Gauges, Pressure Vessels and Mounts are recorded on a Register whilst electronic copies of the Certificates are recorded on Windchill where they are “Configured” so as to record all the information for each ship. Lifting Equipment Certificates are also recorded on the Register along with electronic copies. My responsibility is to check the Certificates are correct and update the Registers and Windchill accordingly. If there are any queries I liaise with the relevant engineer to clarify the information.Windchill works on a “Check Out and Edit” system, similar to most Electronic Data Management Systems.
