I am part of a team responsible for delivering a key element of the configuration management activity for the T45 Destroyers by maintaining the registers of ‘lifed’ items in order to underpin the safety case for the T45 Destroyers. This role requires facilitation of the cross-enterprise activity required to keep the registers up to date, ensuring the integrity of the data and related certification, providing regular status reporting and progressive improvement of the service provided to the enterprise. The information on the Certificates for Hoses, Pressure Relief Valves, Pressure Gauges, Pressure Vessels and Mounts are recorded on a Register whilst electronic copies of the Certificates are recorded on Windchill where they are “Configured” so as to record all the information for each ship. Lifting Equipment Certificates are also recorded on the Register along with electronic copies.My responsibility is to check the Certificates are correct and update the Registers and Windchill accordingly. If there are any queries I liaise with the relevant engineer to clarify the information.Windchill works on a “Check Out and Edit” system, similar to most Electronic Data Management Systems.

I am part of the Quality Engineering team taking responsibility for the compilation and checking of Data Dossiers (Documentation Packs / Manufacturing Record Books) detailing all of the parts, materials & testing associated to each detailed part and assembly. This involves liaising with the customer & company quality teams to ensure Data Dossiers include all of the required information. I work independently on reviewing documentation and working with suppliers to correct issues and queries with documentation supplied. I capture all documentation issues and track completion/resolution of all actions associated with completion, reporting the information directly to either the Quality Control Manager and/or Senior Inspector.

I was part of the team looking after the Documentation, for NATS on their “in-house” document control system (known as Windchill) for Project Marshall. This is a collaboration between NATS, Thales and the Ministry of Defence (MoD).The documents are created by the engineers. I am responsible for checking the documents as per the Procedures for Document Submission. If required I amend the document and then reload the document back to the document control system. If the document is to be review by the MoD I submit the document for review. The documents are not returned by the MoD. I either receive a Comments Sheet which has to be upload to Windchill, given a new document number and then I complete the next step in the review process. If the MOD Approve the document an e-mail will be received stating No Further Comment. I then complete the next step in the review process which will notify the responsible engineer the document is Approved. The engineer will then complete the Windchill task and I shall have to Formally Release the document. I was responsible for: creating new document numbers, including Engineering Change Notes; editing and updating documents so that they are in accordance with Airbus templates; uploading documents to Windchill and assigning the relevant Reviewers and Approvers of the document as well as notifying the relevant individuals when documents are approved.Windchill works on a “Check Out and Edit” system, similar to most Electronic Data Management Systems.
