About Simon Milne

After studying to HNC level I went straight into the workplace starting as a delivery Porter for Bensons for beds. I quickly secured a full time job and within 6 months of working on the vans secured a promotion into the Transport office where I improved my understanding of Logistics and the transport industry in general. This allowed me to begin to develop and create reports for my superiors detailing our performances and how to improve our customer processes. During my time in this department I was given more responsibility and covered the transport manager in his absence dealing with running the schedule for both home delivery and training operation fleets on several occasions. This position allowed me to gain some experience in making office staff and our in the road teams and how to schedule the transport office around holiday schedules and vehicle maintenance schedules. Additionally I dealt a lot with our customers improving the experience and working to provide a better delivery standard due to my experience in this role I was given the opportunity to set up and lead a brand new company initiative the Failure Prevention Team (FPT). The goal of the FPT is to reduce failed deliveries on the road improving our delivery success rate and our customer experience. We want to immediately start the resolution process for any issues noted by our delivery crews to ensure our customers are given an immediate start down the path to a resolution. As well as improving our customer journey we focused on standardising our delivery service nationally between all delivery sites and our bases to ensure all our customers receive the same level of quality and care from all of our locations. Bringing a national standard improved our customer service and our compliance standards across our Network.
