As an Academic Advisor at UCOL I have led a number of initiatives, including UCOL's response to the challenges (and opportunities) presented by Artificial Intelligence. I am also involved in ensuring the quality of UCOL offerings, involving curriculum design and alignment, and the creation of course materials and assessments.Prior to joining UCOL, I taught Physics in the College of Sciences at Massey University. I have completed a BSc in Mathematics and Physics with a minor in Statistics, as well as a BA in Philosophy with a minor in Media Studies, and then went on to complete BSc(Hons) in Physics. I began a PhD in Mathematical Physics, passing my first year confirmation, however ceased studying upon being offered my position on the physics teaching team.In addition to my academic and educational career, I am a member of Palmerston North Brass Band, where I play E-flat Bass (tuba), and am on the committee currently serving as treasurer, and band manager & community liaison. In 2020, I established the Palmerston North Brass Academy with the support of Mathew Johnston, then also a member of PN Brass Band. With the intention of revitalising the brass band scene in Palmerston North, the Academy has been a success through its first few years, and I have now handed off the day-to-day operations of the Academy to several of my fellow band members.
