Passionate about new science and ideas to solves problems for the better good of others, and to develop our knowledge about human functioning and how to thrive in modern life. My health tech journey began in a robotics lab in Sydney, working on rescue robotics for disaster areas to avoid risking lives of rescue workers, which ignited a passion for science and innovation to help people. It's the same motivation that drives me today through nearly two decades across academia, startup and corporate medtech.I started working in medtech startups, first assistive technology, then diagnostics and implants, and along the way grew a deep fascination for cognitive neuroscience. This fascination led to an academic career for seven years working experimentally and theoretically with capacity limited models of human attention in young and older adults, to understand the factors accounting for variation between them, and the potential for therapeutic interventions.Curious to get my feet wet outside academia and startup, and in a context with resources to take things further that what had previously been possible, I joined Coloplast for nearly five years. Here, I led model development and technology scouting in pre-clinical R&D, and headed up a great team of lab technicians and scientists.Coloplast gave perspective on prior experience. Learning large scale R&D operations under regulation, what’s required to market clinical relevant products, and how to balance commercial and R&D interests to achieve it together. When I was offered to join a startup I knew, and help shape it into a medical device company with clinically relevant solutions for cognitive decline it was an obvious next step combining the best of both worlds from my background.Five years into Brain+ we are getting there, now with a medical device software on our main market and a strong team in place to deliver effective digital therapies within dementia, working closely in open innovation with academic experts, and the clinicians administering them to patients.Along the way I have learned that while years may pass between breakthroughs, its joyful and rewarding to help people and ideas grow, as a manager, mentor or randomly for those on our path… Its one of the greatest pleasure of experience, that someone else can benefit from it!Kvantalyze is founded on this idea, and is shaping around mentoring, and advisory of people and startups. It’s also about giving back in gratitude and recognition of the profound impact it has, meeting the right people at the right time in our lives.
