I have enjoyed working in many areas of real estate, including:*portfolio management, refurbishment and development and associated activities*capital markets, including capital raising and corporate disposal*setting and delivering strategic corporate and asset objectivesI am currently a NED of Buccleuch Property and a Trustee of The Portman Estate, having been Chief Executive Officer of McKay Securities Plc up until the successful sale of the business to Workspace Group Plc, announced in March 2022 and concluded in May 2022. After qualifying as a Member of the RICS in 1989 with experience at Drivers Jonas, H Bletsoe and Son and De Groot Collis, I joined Arlington Securities Plc in 1990. During 10 years with Arlington I was extensively involved in all stages of the development of major business parks and other office, industrial and logistics developments, including acquisitions, lettings and sales. Many of the schemes, such as Oxford, Hatfield and Coventry Business Parks resulted from the release of surplus land from Arlington's parent company British Aerospace Plc.I joined McKay Securities Plc in 2000 as Development Director and became CEO in 2003. Achievements during this time included conversion to REIT status, surviving the GFC without recourse to shareholders or lenders, doubling the share capital in 2014 with the introduction of new investors in a £87m share placing, growing the business from £80m to £290m through active management, capital recycling into new properties and an active development programme and executing the corporate disposal to Workspace at a time and price beneficial to shareholders-with 70% of the sale proceeds in cash. In addition I enjoyed other aspects of running a fully listed business including membership of the Nomination and Audit Committees, being a trustee of the pension scheme and stakeholder relations.I'm proud of the achievements of the McKay team over the years, and the delivery of shareholder value from the sale. I’m passionate about the design and creation of engaging, sustainable spaces where people and businesses can thrive. Having attended Reading University, I feel real affinity to the South East and I’m pleased to have supported these communities and to be putting my experience to good use in my new commercial roles, and as a Trustee on the Governing Council of Radley College.
