With almost 34 years of experience in journalism and communication, I’ve covered or managed many major media issues. I trained as a print journalist, working at a busy newspaper group in North Yorkshire, and then honed my media management skills working at the busy West Yorkshire Police press office. As well as managing media relations for several high profile criminal investigations, I also managed the coverage and reaction to the Bradford riots in the summer of 1995 as well as several high profile awareness campaigns.In 1998 I began work for the NHS - first for a small NHS Trust based in Grimsby, and then for a larger Trust covering the hospitals in Grimsby, Scunthorpe and Goole. Having successfully managed the media coverage of the merger which formed the current trust, I also ran the publicity camaign which took the trust to its current Foundation status.In October 2012 I returned to the Lake District to take on a role with my current employer.In September 2015 I began working for the new clinical strategy for Morecambe Bay - Better Care Together, leading on Communications and engagement across the New Care Models Vanguard. In March 2018 I returned to the Acute Trust after completing my secondment and in October became acting Head of Communications covering the maternity leave of the incumbent. After a successful 15 months I returned to my substantive role.In January 2022 I took on a secondment with the NHS England North West regional team.
