I worked in Prof Roger Barker's lab at the John van Geest Centre for Brain Repair in Cambridge for 7 years. In December 2010, I was awarded a 1 year Innovation Grant from the Parkinson's UK Society to investigate the role of CD24 in the selective cell loss associated with Parkinson's Disease. This work began in June, 2011. I am also part of an EU wide consortium called DDPDgenes, looking at subsets of dopamine neurons. In addition to lab-based research, in 2014 I began helping in the weekly Parkinson's clinic conducted by the lab, and subsequently became involved in clinical studies (including coordinating the BIRAX2/Parkinson's UK breath analysis study.
