This is part of the South East Delivery Hub within the Environment Agency's Major Projects and Programme Delivery department. He successfully project managed the construction of the £9m Leigh Flood Storage Area - Measures in the Interest Of Safety (MIOS) structural improvements to protect Tonbridge and communities downstream. These works were delivered within budget and a year early ahead of the Reservoir Act deadline, also securing carbon savings and Biodiversity Net Gain improvements. He is currently delivering similar MIOS works at the Coult Stream Dam in West Kent, currently completing detailed design.Simon has also worked as a project manager on the Thames Estuary Next Delivery Vehicle project, putting in place the next phase of around £1Billion of Thames Estuary 2100 implementation works. As part of this work he helped secure the Strategic Outline Case and coordinated over 25 online workshops with internal stakeholders to inform option selection.In addition to his project management role Simon acts as a Flood Warning Duty Officer monitoring river and sea levels across Kent and issuing flood alerts and warnings to people and partner organisations at risk.
