My role as Applications and Development Engineer incorporates long term R&D projects developing the next future products and processes for the company, working on international collaborations with university and industrial partners. Also I work closely with customers to deliver custom platforms to solve their needs. I use many tools to realize this including Zemax and python to optical model. - Built from ground up a Django Based web portal, incorporating REST APIs to integrate with measurement system and Postgres back end. Auto-generation of reports and analytics. UI to allow users deep dive into database recorded experimental data using Bokeh. Authentication system using Azure. Self hosted server administration with auto failover of database.-Implementation of process improvements to improve productivity by 30% in key markets-Installed, administrated and used a gitLab server for Python development

My role involves Bridging the gap between Neuroscience and Optical Engineering. By combining my knowledge of Two-Photon Microscopy with a novel optical scanning technique developed in Oxford; Remote Focusing. I investigated the mechanism that govern the consolidation of memory during sleep by utilizing Ca+ dyes and whole cell patching. I also investigated the effects that gamma oscillations had on spike responses in the CA3 region of the hippocampus. In addition to applying my knowledge of structured Illumination to investigate Mitochondria movement in slices.

My duties involved devolvement of a novel optical sectioning microscope. This has involved a full design process from computer aid design of the system, through to building testing and operating. The optical sectioning was achieved through an oxford designed technique that uses structured illumination and detection to achieve wide field of view sectioned images. The system utilises a remote focusing technique that allows for high speed z-axis imaging. In addition my post evolves liaising with my European partners and members of the department. Managing budgets and procurement.

Working as part of a collaboration between Imagine Eyes and University of Kent on combing Adaptive Optics and Optical Coherence Tomography

I worked as an engineer in the lithography group. My main task was writing a program in Perl that recreated the stepper shot map automatically from the data that was sent from layout group. Also I helped run splits on various lots. I also created templates for KLA registration machines and Scanning Election Microscopes.
