About Simon Watson

I have spent almost 30 years in wind energy, primarily research, but with commercial experience in the wholesale trading of renewable energy. I have led a number of research projects funded by public bodies such as as the EPSRC, NERC, EU and UK governments departments. I have substantial university teaching experience in renewable energy including being the programme director for CREST's flagship MSc course in Renewable Energy Systems Technology and providing wind power short courses. In addition to my present university research activity I have also provided consultancy in wind energy through LUEL. Presently I am the director of the TU Delft Wind Energy Institute (DUWIND) which is one of TU Delft's flagship research centres coordinating wind energy research across the university faculties. My aspirations are to continue in wind energy research and consultancy, to inspire future generations of students to take up a career in renewable energy and to provide advice and expertise to both the public and private sectors.
