- Reporting directly in to the head of production services- Managing a team of 5 DBAs split between SQL Server and Oracle supporting and maintaining the entire database estate including key trading systems- Implemented monitoring improvements across the database estate to ensure all critical alerts are picked up correctly and no outages are caused by basic issues- Successfully negotiated a license agreement with Oracle to ensure no future license costs for the next 5-7 years. This included presenting a proposal to senior management to secure ~$100k outlay on hardware to avoid future procurement exercises and lead to $millions of cost avoidance- Actively working on implementing a Lifecycle Management process to track assets through the estate from commissioning through to decommissioning integrating closely with the CMDB- Successfully integrated the GLG database platform in to the Global Data Centres adhering to standards in the process. The integration has been seamless from a business perspective- Hold regular monthly and/or quarterly meetings with delivery managers within infrastructure to ensure the database team are providing the correct level of support to their teams and to understand where the database team can improve- Work closely with change, incident and problem management teams to ensure ITIL process are adhered to where necessary- Still performing hands on support and technical expertise on SQL Server- Provide on-call support 1 week in 3 for SQL Server- Re-architected The BI analysis services platform to scale for future use engaging directly with the development team to ensure their requirements were met- Closely engaged with the Engineering department to plan out road maps and standards for the SQL Server and Oracle platforms

- Key Interface between development projects and infrastructure teams- Ensured the smooth progression of development projects from initialisation through to implementation in to production- Architected and implement a new Enterprise Reporting Platform that is used throughout the company- Heavily involved in a very large Data Centre migration project to consolidate our disparate data centres in to one central location- Produced detailed plans on database migrations for SQL Server platform including to a newly designed cluster platform- Worked very closely with Engineering teams to produce a SQL Server High Level design and standard build guides for a new automated build process- Closely liaised with Swiss counterparts to ensure standards were agreed globally- Provided on-call support to the SQL Server estate

- Supported entire SQL Server estate including regional systems in New York, Montevideo, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Dubai- Implementation of new SQL Server monitoring platform to notify of any outage within the estate greatly helped in reducing incidents- Provided DBA assistance for the roll-out of Blackberry Enterprise Server to Hong Kong greatly improving the Blackberry service to that region- Provided DBA assistance to the roll-out of Faxination to the regional offices (Hong Kong, Dubai, Tokyo, Montevideo, Ireland and London)- Assisted in designing and implementing new data warehouse platform- Provided support including on-call cover for the Oracle estate- Upgraded a number of systems to SQL Server 2005 from SQL Server 2000
