Teaching the Library Financial Management and Budgeting course (online) in the Library and Information Technician program.

- Portfolio includes: planning and service delivery at all 7 branches (including Central Library), 4 OPL Express locations and Alternative Services, Program Development (including Makerspace), Facility Operations and all facility capital projects.- Reporting to the CEO and working as part of the executive leadership team, responsible to oversee an operating budget of $6.5 million with 6 direct reports and over 100 indirect reports.- Accountabilities include but are not limited to: strategic planning and policy development; service and facility planning; facility operations oversight, human resources planning and development; labour relations; financial planning; reporting to the OPL Board on all service statistics through analytics reports; program and partnership development.

Responsible for the effective administration of two library branches with a total operating budget of $1.1 million and 22 staff. Accountabilities include but not limited to: recruitment and selection; performance and attendance management; scheduling, training, budgeting, collection management, programming, customer service, community outreach and facilities.• Developed and nurtured relationships with HPL partners, community agencies and local businesses by initiating the library’s participation in the Stoney Creek Santa Claus Parade, hosting annual events for the Stoney Creek Chamber of Commerce and initiating a partnership with the Ontario Yearly Centres in the form of weekly programs hosted at the library• Demonstrated flexibility and the ability to handle emergency situations (staffing, customers, facilities) in the role of duty manager for all HPL branches (23 locations) on a weekly basis• Continued personal leadership development by leading or participating in research and implementation of systemwide projects which furthered the goals of HPL and enhanced staff competencies:  ILS Migrations(VTLS – Virtua in 2013 – co-project manager; Innovative – Polaris in 2016 – training) Strategic planning in 2012-2013 and Policy Review in 2016 Adult Programming (2015-2016) – led a team of 6 staff to develop and plan over 20 programs each quarter to be delivered throughout Hamilton City wide reading initiatives (Hamilton Reads) and training development (Readers’ Advisory Learning Institute)• Initiated, launched and continue to facilitate the Women’s Leadership Circle, a partnership between HPL and YWCA which brings women together to network, build self-esteem and grow their business• Engage HPL staff in discussions about meditation, healthy living and leadership by creating and presenting Mindfulness in Motion workshop at HPL Staff Day (2016), writing blog posts and leading conversation groups, demonstrating excellence in communication skills

• Responsible for overall branch supervision (30 staff), scheduling, training and performance evaluations feedback, statistics and monthly branch reports; overall coordination of reference and readers’ advisory services, collection development and programming• Organized outreach to all 16 schools in the catchment area including the coordination of library visits for an average of 20 classes per school to expose students to public library resources and collections• Developed community partnerships with Ontario Early Years Centres, initiated the Courtneypark Poetry Group and solicited donations to further enhance the library’s position in the community and transform it into a community hub• Developed the RFP for RFID implementation and met with vendors to review products for research purposes• Managed youth media and adult fiction collection budgets of approximately $500,000 and coordinated automatic release plans for the all 18 branches to deliver appropriate materials to all locations in a timely fashion
