About Simon Aliwell

I am a technology commercialisation professional supporting many different types of organisations to ensure that great innovations and emerging technologies have a better chance of successfully reaching the market.I provide an innovation management, research and technology commercialisation service to companies, universities and other public sector organisations. I help organisations develop technology strategies, engage in open innovation, find and understand markets and technologies and secure funds. I am well networked along the supply chains from R&D to end-users of technology and can therefore deliver insightful and informed analysis and assistance in developing partnerships.In terms of technical background I have developed new sensor and instrumentation technologies and have experience in the application of sensing and instrumentation in sectors as diverse as healthcare, security, aerospace, nuclear power, environmental, agriculture, process industry and leading edge science, as well as a good knowledge of a range of further technologies that enable sensing and measurement. Over the years though I have expanded my interests and expertise to a much wider range of technologies including energy harvesting, medical devices, Internet of Things, materials, radio astronomy and many more.I have led teams providing innovation management services and consultancy to industry, government and academia; started and run a number of technology and business networks; worked in start-ups and on investment boards.
