After 7 months of being an Audit Supervisor I was promoted to Assistant Manager. I was responsible for organising and managing client assignments and projects as well as coaching, advising, and directing team members.Responsibilities as Assistant Manager• Manage client relationships/expectations and develop my client portfolio. • Develop relations with existing clients in order to gather feedback on the quality of work delivered and to gain ideas for improvement of services delivered. • Effectively manage audit teams and actively coach and develop team members.• Active involvement in the recruitment of staff.• Responsible for planning and managing assignments for compliance with technical requirements including: 1. Final technical review and for raising pertinent issues with the partner. 2. Ensuring management letters are constructive, commercially aware and demonstrate the firm's interest in the client's business. 3. Obtaining consultation from experts on complex issuesResponsible for handling various assignments, including: A. Pre Audit / other project: • Preparation of audit project proposals, budgets, negotiations over fee and contract terms. B. Audit fieldwork: • Monitoring audit progress including compliance with budgets and deadline. • Ensuring that audit work is being allocated to team members on a level in line with their experience. C: Post Audit • Adequate fee recovery, variance analysis, billing procedures and pursuing overdue accounts. • Arrangement of closing meetings including preparation of support for agenda. • Controlling preparation of final version accounts and reports.

I continued with the BDO post qualification and was promoted to Supervisor in June 2011.I was now in a position to provide direction and assistance on a number of jobs and acted as a middle man between the audit senior and partner. During my training contract I had the opportunity to explore and understand how different organisations function effectively, across a wide range of industry sectors.
