Having worked in part-time consultancy for a few years, in order to support some family priorities, I'm now open to additional engagements, and potentially a return to a full-time role.I've earned my living in the web business since 1995, with extended periods in government, data publishing and open source technology. My passion was reignited in the mid-noughties, with Web 2.0 and the maturing of open source. I became a specialist WordPress consultant when that was considered a risky career move. I co-founded an agency called Code For The People, with an explicit focus on large-scale WordPress development for some very high-profile clients.In late 2014, we were acquired by Automattic, WordPress's foster parent company. After five years with the WordPress VIP team, bringing high-profile clients to the cloud computing platform behind some of the largest publishing brands in the world, I returned to the consultancy space, seeking the kinds of creative challenges where I have always done my best work.These days I typically operate under the label of Product Owner, Director or Strategist. I bring a uniquely deep and broad perspective, having worked both as a client and developer. I can get under the skin of client requirements, turning them into ideas which can be delivered quickly and successfully on a cloud-based platform. I can engage with developers on a technical level, often producing my own prototypes to illustrate my thinking.I believe product ownership is a means to an end. I care about delivery and results, not any particular tool or methodology. I believe strongly in fostering a culture of confidence and collaboration, where all team members have a clear understanding of the mission and objectives behind a piece of work, enough to make wise decisions for themselves on day-to-day matters.
