I have over 25 years’ experience in the Health sector and I have received an award for my work designing a Resource Centre for people with severe learning difficulties and Autism. Before forming Duffy Architects I worked for a commercial practice where I led the design on GP Surgeries, Primary Health Care Centres, residential homes, specialist accommodation for people with autism and Neighbourhood Resource Centres for adults with learning difficulties.I was also involved with the new GP Commissioning Board in Bracknell and was instrumental in successfully pioneering the design of one of the first buildings being commissioned through the new PCT structure as a prelude to the abolition of PCTs in April 2013.My health care experience requires an understanding of people with disabilities, the built environments in which they function, and the design standards required. I am also an Expert Witness on the accommodation needs of seriously disabled people and I receive instructions from claimants, defendants and joint instructions. I also receive work from the NHSLAI have designed GP surgeries and residential care homes for people with dementia and have been involved with building procurement through:• Local Improvement Finance Trusts (LIFT)• Third party development (3PD) • Private ownership working alongside PCT’s, local authorities and GP’s.I am also involved in the design, construction and adaptation of buildings for adults and children with disabilities ranging from amputees to severe Cerebral PalsyI am a member of the Expert Witness Institute and have successfully completed the Cardiff University Law School Bond Solon Civil Expert Certificate.
