I am a values-based communications professional. I am passionate about diversity and inclusion and see opportunities everywhere for communications to improve to incorporate different types of accessible communications. I literally look at websites and social media as pie and my mind shouts – “you’re missing out on this piece, and this piece, and this piece… etc…”Those bits of pie are often, business opportunities. So, more fool them, but…When I see that Federal, State or Local government, or even essential services, are forgetting to speak to particular people, that really annoys me. I know it takes time and effort, but it’s important to make that effort, especially to make documents into e.g. Easy Read when one of your key audiences are people with intellectual disability.I can see all these issues and I have the vision and the passion for improvement, but I don’t necessarily have the technical skills or direct experience. But that has never stopped me from getting things done – I am in the process of training myself up, but in the meantime I would collaborate with or engage others if I was working on a project and I lacked some of the technical skills.I am happy to work for organisations that have strong human rights-based values on communication and content projects. Working on anything inclusion, disability or NDIS related would be a great bonus.
