As Sport Manger I lead and manage the implementation of SLSNR’s sport development strategies to deliver an all-encompassing sport/competition programme that meets the needs and aspirations of members and clubs, positively profiles SLS and satisfies the expectations of sponsors therefore contributing to the growth and vitality of SLSNR.I support all clubs to deliver quality Junior Surf programmes and provide an inter-club competition programme that educates and develops participants at the same time encouraging them into a lifelong involvement in SLS.I am also responsible for developing a High Performance programme focusing on the development of athletes. I am committed to ensuring SLSNR has a continuous improvement culture within sport development.

Conceived of and commenced own Mobile Personal Training business, which also included Sports Coaching. The business was dependent on developing relationships with clients, retaining them, getting them the results they desire and referrals. Other duties included financial record keeping: accounting, taxation, invoicing and receipting, weekly and monthly revenue and expenditure analysis; client record keeping: yearly periodised programming, training diaries and recording sheets; promotion and marketing. Liaison with other sports related professionals in order to best meet clients’ needs was also vital. I was also contracted to run Boot Camp Group Training Session and Children’s Fitness Training Sessions. As a Coach for Mairangi Bay Surf Life Saving Club I delivered a Speed Development and Cross Training programme for athletes. This role not only involved working with athletes, but also directly dealing with parents, other coaches (including volunteer coaches) and Sports Medicine practitioners.

During this time I worked in a wide range of duties within the Police. I began working as a frontline Police Officer at Auckland Central Police Station attending many and varied Police matters. Then went to the Auckland City Strategic Traffic Unit which specialised in traffic enforcement and investigation. I commenced working in the Auckland City Combined Investigation Unit before being seconded to a homicide enquiry where a variety of duties were carried out. These included the management of over two thousand exhibits in order for examination and analysis to be carried out; physical search and location of exhibits at scenes; extensive investigative enquiries; liaison with specialist groups including the ESR, Fingerprint and Photography, Document Examiners, Electronic Crime Lab and BMW New Zealand; clerking of the file and disclosure to defense counsel; Blood Compulsion Orders, witness liaison and court preparation (Operation Radio – Murder of Graham Kirkwood).
