I am responsible for building out DUAL's Facultative proposition in the UK and will be writing excess of loss business within the UK on behalf of A-Rated carriers based out of London.

I am currently writing facultative reinsurance on an excess of loss basis for direct clients (insurers, MGAs, fronting carriers) across a range of occupancies within commercial property and energy including renewables and battery energy storage.I write FAC on an individual (spot) or blanket basis across various layers including low-level net protection, ventilation and high excess layers and I also build and manage auto-FAC facilities. Risks are written in the UK and worldwide including Europe, the Far East, US & Canada and Africa. Cover offered is All-Risks / FLEXA as well as single peril carve outs such as flood, SCS/hail, earthquake, wind, CBI and machinery breakdown. I write both traditional property risks across a broad range of sectors including residential, warehousing and logistics, transportation, manufacturing (with a focus on high hazard processes) as well as renewable energy risks including PV and thermal solar, onshore wind and waste to energy. I also write both CAR and EAR risks including wood-frame habitational, residential/commercial and power utilities and infrastructureOther duties include developing and delivering training for existing underwriters, new recruits as well as providing targeted training on technical topics such as new / emerging risks and hazards, fire protection systems. I also write internal / external reference papers and assist referral underwriters in reviewing and refreshing standards. I maintain relationships with a broad range of London market and UK regional cedents undertaking regular marketing / business development visits to identify their needs, provide training on our product offerings / helping the development of their underwriters as well as representing Gen Re at various industry events, and participating and speaking at technical seminars

Worked in the Major Accounts team writing UK and multinational property risks; both risk transfer and captive fronted lead programmes for primarily complex listed companies across a range of occupanciesDeveloped a network of London-market placement, servicing and reinsurance brokers and worked closely with them to structure, bind and service insurance programmes. Provided support and training for underwriting colleagues including technical engineering matters.

Joined RSA Global Consulting following the acquisition of elciem by RSA and worked with Global Specialty Lines customers across a broad range of industry sectors.Engineering work covered property, construction, power & renewable energy and machinery breakdown classes. Energy work included STOR facilities, biogas / biomass waste to energy plants including aerobic & anaerobic digestion plants, gas-to-grid, photovoltaic and thermal solar, onshore wind and utility power infrastructure. I obtained industry recognised qualifications for inspections of wind farms including ascent and access into the tower, nacelle, blade, roof and hub / rotor and HV spaces.Visits included some of UK and Turkey’s largest onshore wind farms as well as onshore electrical export substations & cable infrastructure across major wind turbine manufacturers including GE, Senvion, Vestas, Nordex, Bonus and Siemens. Focused on property & machinery breakdown exposures through the analysis of O&M activities and physical inspections of hydraulic accumulators, gearboxes, pitch control systems, generators, transformers, converters, yaw mechanisms and high voltage systems.Account management duties concerned the provision of value added services to RSA clients focusing on account portfolio analysis including risk improvement categorisation and prioritisation, risk quality profile analysis & loss expectancy reviews. Other duties included implementing effective management of change through project plan review, post loss investigations, production of account overviews, BCM and the production of corporate standards.Was part of the project team for the development of RSA's risk engineering IT system forming part of the core user acceptance testing team carrying out testing and debugging of the software, user training, writing system user manuals, as well as continuing as a super-user providing first line technical support to RSA consultants and contractors.

elciem provided unbundled property and business interruption loss prevention risk engineering services to direct clients, as well as services to brokers and insurers before being acquired by RSA in 2013.Provided a range of risk engineering services to clients of all sizes across a variety of sectors and worked extensively throughout Europe, North America, Africa and Asia Pacific. Surveys included evaluation of construction, management standards and fire protection systems against NFPA, FM, LPC standards, testing and commissioning of fire protection systems. Extensive experience in high hazard manufacturing e.g glass, food and beverage. Managed fire system impairments, wrote corporate loss control standards, provided training and undertook plan review and change management as well as writing market accepted risk engineering reports. Average of 75 surveys per year with 10 day report turn around.A select list of my achievements included:Food and Beverage Sector- Helped a client to exceed industry standard rates of recommendation completion- Established a longstanding 6 year relationship supplying risk engineering services to a food client and their insurer whilst maintaining good claims experience.- Ensured effective change management on a £250m, 30,000-sq.m new build manufacturing and automated distribution facility from greenfield design concept through to production. Glass Manufacturing- Completed risk engineering surveys for a leading glass manufacturing company across their global portfolio.- Identified significant exposures previously overlooked by previous insurers raising the need for urgent attention to correct deficiencies that could have resulted in significant business interruption at bottleneck sites.Communications and Technology- Highlighted potential supply chain risk for a major consumer electronics manufacturer who were using an outsourced provider which could have significant implications for the business.

Worked for Ace Insurance as a Loss Prevention Engineer within the Multinational Property division providing risk management services for underwriters with a variety of clients including automotive, key national infrastructure, high profile retailers, iconic hotel properties and aerospace organisations.Conducted loss control surveys, oversaw post loss inspections and completed desk-top reviews of other insurer / broker reports and presentations.

Working within the Major Corporate Division of WPA Health Insurance, I was responsible for handling health insurance claims. This role required a detailed knowledge of medical policy terms and conditions and exclusions in order to accurately assess and handle health insurance claims. This role gave me my initial insight into the insurance industry and was the catalyst for me in seeking a career in insurance.
