Wellington Cable Car Limited (WCCL) is a Council Controlled Organisation (CCO) which owns, operates and maintains the Cable Car and the Trolley Bus electrical network (until decommissioned). Major Responsibilities Executive responsibility to the Board for the Company's strategic direction and leadership, Maximise company operational and financial performance (including targets for profitability, revenue, passenger numbers, and levels of service), Operational delivery of public transport services in accordance with the required levels of service, and health and safety metrics, Business Development to generate increased turnover and new revenue streams,Major Achievements• Successfully directed and led the Electric Drive upgrade project in 2016 that designed and rebuilt the Cable Car Passenger Vehicles and Electric Drive (2-years duration, $4M cost).• Planned and led the Trolley Bus electrical network decommissioning project, including securing NZTA funding, communications, procurement, and project delivery (3-years duration, $8M cost).• Led the prototype development and introduction into service of the Trolley Bus Overhead Protection project, with the project being awarded a New Zealand Engineering Excelland award.• Transformed asset management practices by implementing new asset management plans and preventative maintenance systems based on best practice from the electricity supply industry.• Developed new business activities and revenue streams, including electrical network replacement projects, and licence fees from telecommunications utilities for Fibre Optic Broadband access.• Introduced a new safety management system, including transforming existing practices to comply with Health and Safety legislation, including training and mentoring of staff.• Renegotiated a complex maintenance services provision contract for the Trolley Bus electrical network, achieving significant improvements in operationals, whilst securing savings of $750K.
