I harnessed augmented reality and machine learning to create Looksy, a shopping platform concept which strove to seamlessly merge the brick and mortar and e-commerce experiences. I also designed and marketed Ball in Cup, a game on the App Store.

I was a teaching assistant for courses in the Computing + Mathematical Sciences (CMS) and Information Science and Technology (IST) departments. I served as a TA for CS1 (Introduction to Computer Programming) for two years; and from March-June 2016, I was a TA for IST4 (Information and Logic). My responsibilities included grading assignments and exams, holding office hours, and preparing course materials.

I worked in the Planetary Atmospheres Group with Dr. Glenn Orton to develop interactive tools for data reduction of infrared planetary images; processed images at infrared wavelengths shed crucial insights into gas giants' climate and composition. Tools produced pertain to planetary limb detection (a special method was created and implemented to improve existing edge detection results) and co-addition of composite images (a tool that generates a linear function to make seams between images negligible was designed). All of the programming was done in the Interactive Data Language (IDL), and graphical widgets were created to enable widespread future usability of the tools (particularly for the Juno mission, which began orbit in 2016). I wrote a research report and gave a presentation to several groups at JPL titled "Automating Reduction for Infrared Images of Jupiter."

I started J. and J. Simon Enterprises when I realized the lucrative prospect of selling Japanese merchandise to the American and European markets. I have forged relationships with Japanese wholesale suppliers, programmed a contacts database to help organize my customers, and sold merchandise at various conventions in a myriad of venues as well as on various websites. The business had over 1000 successful transactions with over 500 customers in 48 U.S. states and 18 countries. In order to further enhance my prospects in dealing with Japanese suppliers, I pursued studying the Japanese language and culture.

I tutored students ages 5-16 with various skill levels, up to AP Calculus. I was responsible for grading student assessments and coordinating events such as the TriMathlon competition, which had hundreds of participants. I also redid the filing system to make printing student worksheets more efficient. As part of my training, I completed Mathnasium 101, a course on the “Mathnasium Method” of teaching.
