Simon Montgomery is an educator, musician, music manager, song writer, recording artist and entrepreneur currently living in Perth, Western Australia. As an educator, Simon has over 20 years experience working in various roles predominantly in Catholic Education and has a passion for empowering students and mentoring staff to develop the leadership skills to be successful in their lives through a holistic education. In his current as the Head of Chaney House, Simon is a member of Aquinas College's Senior School Pastoral Care Team and oversees the holistic development of one quarter of the College's senior school students (Years 10 - 12). While being in this role he has been involved in; Developing the Student House Council system to provide students with leadership opportunities and student voice, which has subsequently been adopted as a leadership model for the remainder of the Senior School; (2) A strong advocate for the College's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Students; (3) Development of a House Identity / House Culture; (4) Academic Course and Pathway Counselling for post-school studies; (5) Child Safeguarding; (6) Mental Health / Wellbeing Counselling; (7) Staff Mentoring; (8) Student Leadership Mentoring; (9) Development of Character Education Program for Year 10 students; (10) Contributor and facilitator of Safe Guarding Program to Year 11 & 12 Students.Simon is also a passionate music educator, who strongly advocate for the importance in the Arts in the holistic development of students, the important contribution that the Arts makes to our Australian society, and that all students have a right to access a quality Arts education. He currently teaches classroom music from Year 7 - 12 including a VET Certificate II in Music course for Years 11 - 12, ensemble director (Concert Band, Big Band, Saxophone Ensemble), and Instrumental Tutor (Woodwinds).
