Engineering Student
I studied at PMS as part of an 8th month professional work placement. I was very lucky to a member of a team of three Electronic Engineers that were involved in the design and build of two 2017 Vehicles which use state of the art technology for surveying the quality of road networks. The First a 2017 Volkswagen Transporter we call the MVF (Multi Functional Vehicle). This machine measures the road surface profile. It surveys the reflective quality of roadside network signs and It is also fitted with a Laser Crack Measurement System for identifying, recording and surveying cracks in the road surface. The SCRIM (Sideways-Force Coefficient Routine Investigation Machine) is a surface friction tester which is used world-wide to accurately measure wet-road skidding resistance. We built the electrical and computer systems along with the data collection sensors to a 2017 Volvo Fe At PMS I also operated and maintained a wide range of road testing equipment mounted on vehicles including GPR( ground penetrating radar), Video surveying and a road surface profiler
