The Personnel Department is a staffing and recruitment agency in downtown Vancouver. I work there as a field service agent. In this role I work as a temporary employee at companies which have short term staffing needs. The positions I fill are generally administrative, the terms vary in length but I have been extended in some cases as long as two years. I have worked in and experienced many different company structures and cultures, including large international accounting firms, small family run businesses, events, companies undergoing dramatic changes, and more. I have consistently been very highly rated and requested to return. The Squarerigger is a small pub, located in West Vancouver. There is usually only one employee working at a time. My responsibilities included all daily aspects of running a small business, large elements of customer service, and many management duties.Specific responsibilities: Daily accounting & record keeping, employee supervision, employee development; problem solving, inventory counting & controls, and customer service.

The Bridge Between, formerly "The Maplewood Pub", and currently "The Narrows", is located in North Vancouver. I started my employment there as a line cook, and quickly moved into positions of responsibility. I learned a knew role as a bartender, and then became a Bar Manager, which is a management role responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the bar services, and reporting to the Owner/GM.Specific Responsibilities: Creating and running promotional activities, product development, menu design, employee development, employee supervision, inventory counting and controls, customer service, and service and sales representative liaisons.

I travelled to England for a working vacation in 2005. I got a bartending position at the Chequers Inn, (now out of business, I believe) to help fund my extended stay. During my time there I performed basic duties in the kitchen and at the bar, but managerial turnover quickly pushed me up the responsibility ladder. After six months and the termination of the employment of the General Manager, I was promoted to Assistant General Manager and working with the other AGM to run the pub with minimal oversight from the corporate office. Specific Responsibilities: Human Resources Management (scheduling, hiring, terminating, and everything in between), payroll administration, book keeping, strategic decision making, account management, promotions, event coordination, and customer service.
