A background in engineering and business development (Oil & Gas, Chemicals, Life Sciences) with over 20 years of driving innovation and enterprise in SMEs, large companies, and the public sector. - Set up and development of two export programmes (grants and education/events) over 4 years as interim project lead for the Department for Business & Trade (DBT) – from business case writing through to operationalisation, and requiring extensive engagement with DBT functions, OGDs, suppliers, Nations, industry sector teams and trade associations. - Implementation of commercial bid function for science company LGC offering outsourced grant management services to government - including major contract with the Department of Health & Social Care (DHSC) to administer £400m/year of R&D grant programmes. - Launch and delivery of 5-year, £100m R&D grant programme for DHSC - managing a complex partnership with senior management at Wellcome Trust to harness the capabilities of both organisations and bring innovation to the NHS via multiple, theme-based competitions targeting academia, NHS Trusts, and industry.
