Saving & transferring over a Memorial Hall dating from 1863 to retain/strengthen community ownership. Engaging people in the local community so that they can become actively involved in the future of the building & can co-create new projects & services within the building.

Monkey Park is a non-profit Community Interest Company that is changing the face of its town. We operate a community hub in a deprived area of Chesterfield, Derbyshire - containing a number of services including:- community space & meeting room- community cafe- cycle workshop- startup community & co-work space, focusing on social enterprises & digital businesses- mentoring & support service for community businesses- activities/events for local people, focussed on wellbeing, reduction of social isolation & localeconomic developmentWe also do extensive work in partnership with local people, councils & businesses to improve our area, including projects to install a riverside walkway, community flower/vegetable planters & new paved walking routes.Within our hub, we work hard to build communities of many sorts including environmental groups, craft groups & Chesterfield's SpireDigital technology initiative. Co-founder and Trustee of a new charity - created to form an environment-focussed social enterprise & skills hub for young people in North Derbyshire. This will include various initiatives to enable upcycling of unwanted materials into useful commodities, while providing local young people with a gathering space that has purpose.
