Hassell is a leading international design practice with studios in Australia, China, South East Asia, the United Kingdom and the United States of America, working across a broad range of scales, from the interior design of a boutique retail store through to major public architecture and strategic urban planning for cities.Roles:As the Practice Wide Model Shop Manager I was part of the Design Technologies team reporting directly to the Team Leader and Operations Executive Technology Leader….- Coordinate management of all model shops across Hassell- Manage and engage with model shop coordinators in each of the local studios- Manage the OHS compliance of model shops including model shop policy, risk assessments, SDS collection, project briefing worksheet and material costing worksheets- Research, develop and implement new technologies (laser cutting, 3D printing, material recycling, digital scanning for reverse engineering/manufacturing)- Develop and implement digital model shop induction process on intranet learning hub (go1)- Document processes for efficient model making within the design process to be included in learning hub- Presentations to the studio on critical OHS and technology changes in the model shopAs the Senior Model Maker and only dedicated model maker across the entire business I was responsible for many models- Procurement of regular material suppliers and maintaining stock levels- Machine servicing and maintenance including tech support for other studios- Production of models for submissions, competitions and presentations- Perform staff inductions into the model shop to ensure OHS compliance- Assist design teams to realise their project model needs remained focused and were achieved on timeDuring the global pandemic and lockdowns that occurred my skills and attention to detail were utilised to project manage the Melbourne Hassell Studio refurbishment.- Studio decommissioning- Onsite coordination- Post construction commissioning

Bates Smart specialise in commercial, residential, hospitality and social infrastructure sectors.Role:- Management of a team of two other model makers within the Melbourne studio- Production of models for submissions, competitions and presentations for the Melbourne and Sydney studio- Procurement of regular material suppliers and maintaining stock levels- Machine servicing and maintenance including tech support for other studios- Assist design teams to realise their project model needs remained focused and were achieved on time- Implementation of OHS standards relating to the model shop operations- Perform staff inductions into the model shop to ensure OHS compliance- Implementation and rollout of in-house staff training for Open Asset image library

The business was reshaped into Make It Models in 2013.Role:- Adobe Creative suite work for complex graphic design work- CAD drawings and laser cutting for the majority of models to be fed to production staff in the workshop- Maintenance of the laser cutter in the workshop- Implementation of laser cutting templates and formalisation of laser setting registry- Production of specialized models, graphic, wayfinding signage and artwork commissions- CAD CAM operator
