When executing strategies, those guiding a business need to be informed of factors driving the markets that influence their operating space. Equally, within the business, they need to be informed of operational performance drivers to effectively negotiate, respond to and leverage changes in those markets.My career roles in mineral and transport economics consultancy, servicing mining, finance and government clients, have book-ended my industry roles that began in mining, processing and logistical operational excellence teams. In between and beyond the mine gate, supply chain logistics project management for bulk commodities (including third party access to port and rail infrastructure), has been complemented by supply chain management in steel manufacturing operations, at strategic and operational levels overseeing planning, procurement, inventory management and management of import/export functions.The foundations for this experience are qualifications in science and further training (including Finance & Six Sigma) practiced in multinational mining and consultancy houses.In addition to influencing business process, the combination of commodities analysis and mining and supply chain experience offers a holistic content based insight into the end to end supply / demand value drivers throughout the entire steel industry supply chain.
