WEEKEND EDITOR: I oversaw weekend production, including specialist ethnic, sports, youth and religious programmes. I was the line manager for the weekend presenting team and large team of casual staff.Consolidated audience figures during tenure and improved editorial understanding and compliance among specialist programmes.

Career progression attachment working on BBC regional TV news programme. I worked across the TV output. I produced features for the main 13.30 and 18.30 regional TV news programmes, researching stories, writing scripts, briefing presenters and journalists, and overseeing the edits of packaged reports. I reported to the programme producer and intake editors, flagging up potential stories and ensuring that the items I worked on met the editorial ambitions of the programme.I was responsible for the production of the overnight news agenda and early morning bulletins, finding and researching stories from across the patch, writing scripts and ordering and editing bulletins. As the producer of the early morning bulletins, I had to make sure that we picked up any overnight developments and responded appropriately, with swift deployment on major breaking stories.

I worked across the news and current affairs output of this flagship BBC local radio station as a reporter, newsreader and producer. PROGRAMME PRODUCER: I produced the flagship news and current affairs programmes, juggling the editorial agenda to reflect new developments, briefing presenters and reporters, and providing calm on-air guidance and decision making. I wrote compelling story cues and succinct briefs to make the stories relevant to the audience. REPORTER: I reported across news and current affairs output. I crafted creative news packages to grab the listeners' attention while delivering balance and accuracy. I reported live on breaking stories, both in the studio and on location. NEWSREADER: I developed my news reading skills on local news bulletins. I learnt to juggle the changing news agendas with the need to keep calm and in control, structuring the bulletins to provide a balanced and diverse round up of local, national and international developments.
