I’m a good old-fashioned computer and tech nerd. I’ve always loved digging down into systems and trying new tech.As for many of my generation, it started with NES, Amiga, Atari and Commodore in the eighties.Moving into the nineties it was the 286, 386, Windows 3.1 and DOS.During the 2000’s I got curious about Linux, and for many years I ran the Linux distribution Gentoo on my computers.Then, in 2004 I became a dad. Priorities changed and over the next few years I moved to Windows. Partially because it is a time-consuming task building and maintaining a complex distro like Gentoo.Knowledge of Windows was also more valuable for me getting a good job, and for many years I was using and learning Windows.I even started playing (a) computer game(s) for a while. Though, to be fair, EVE Online is much more than “just a game” ;)I started working at TV 2 Danmark in 2007, and in 2011 I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. After brain surgery and long fight in recovery, I came back and was determined to get a running start.In the following years I noticed more and more Apple Mac computers being used in our workplace. No-one knew much about these devices and there were no support for Mac. We had no oversight over who had a Mac, what it was used for or if the data was secure.I decided to do something about it, so I switched my Windows laptop for a MacBook Pro and started learning. My experience with Linux, CLI and Bash helped a lot, and one thing lead to another. I pushed on, getting these Mac devices under management, and thus improving security, support and improving the user experience.I worked as Mac Sysadmin at TV 2 Danmark for 3,5 years, managing our Mac devices first in Addigy, then in Jamf Pro, building and securing a solid foundation for managing Apple computers in our organization.In my current position as Apple Specialist at ENVO IT, I use the knowledge I gained during the past to help other organizations managing their Apple devices.And of course, I’m still learning new things every day!It’s been quite a journey, but trust me, it’s far from over!
