Estimates vary but a common projection is approximately 15% of all healthcare spend is unnecessary resulting in over $600B each year. The potential opportunities for improvement are astounding. This is where I get excited and roll up my sleeves.Real disruption in the industry can only be achieved through a combination of expertise, creative thinking, collaboration and technology. However, despite the amount of waste in the system it is not easy to implement change. Different parts of the industry rely on these inefficiencies as part of their strategy and revenue streams. They put up barriers of all kinds to protect them.Our generation of industry leaders need to break down these walls, and we need to start making greater strides now.
