Through several meetings and lots of white-boarding, we came up with a plan. From this, I built out the Database schema and Laravel app core functionality, and over the next few months we worked tirelessly in modifying and tweaking all the front end Javascript that handles a big part of the Google API interfacing. I have worked as a freelance full stack web developer for over 6 years full time now. I know it says something about being more than a decade, but I have not been doing this full time through those years. I usually try and contract myself out to web firms but I also take on a lot of personal contracts. I am not based in any one place lately and move depending upon the job. As one of two developers in this startup, I have been responsible for developing new modules as well as maintaining the existing Laravel codebase. Our primary SAAS app contains over 176 models, 60 controllers and 36 cron driven CLI commands. All of this is supported by nearly 30 separate, relational databases occupying just over 9 gigs of data. It is certainly no small task to keep this machine moving forward while adding new features to our primary application, let alone building out new apps. Working with CTR / Weblogix has garnered me many new insights into the ever changing and developing web based technologies. From learning React.js to working with Raspberry pi's there seems no end to learning new things.During my time with Weblogix we have seen many changes, including a move to Victoria from Vancouver, amalgamating with another company and a name change. As a diver with over 16 years experience and several thousand dives this job was a shoe in for me. My ability to manage stress, foresee potential problems, think on my feet quickly and have attention to detail gained me recognition as an adept and safe diver with Skookum Yacht Services. It has often been mentioned by the owners to other staff that I am their go to contract diver because of the aforementioned attributes. So long as I am in the Vancouver area I know these guys will always be willing to call on me should some marine duty call them.My roles while in their employ mostly involved inspections and underwater repairs on sailing boats, yachts, though we also did a lot in the maintenance and repair of marinas and floating home communities.

Originally hired to produce a website for the growing company my other assets and skills were quickly recognized allowing my role to expand.My use around the shop quickly grew from a simple web developer to IT professional within the company. I became the go to guy for any IT related question and was soon organizing and setting up systems for individuals as well as providing the company with a proper network backbone to operate on. One of the major achievements in this field was completely reworking the estimating software in Excel as well as producing an integrated production system so team members could collaborate and keep work flow in sync.My analytic and organizational skills were quickly noticed and I was therefore set on the task of operations management. I was the senior printer during my tenure with Queenstown Signs. My tasks involved overseeing and running the large format printers at the shop as well as intelligently designing or interpreting client concepts into digital files via Illustrator, Photoshop or Signlab.My time at Queenstown Signs was short only because of the limitations of my working holiday visa.

As a hired short term contract web developer my duties took me through the entire life cycle of a web development project after the PSD flats were created by the design team. My core focus being the use of Wordpress as a platform for building websites.I was entrusted with completing every aspect of the project after design to launch. This role involved managing and prioritizing tasks to effectively see a site launch on time and too specifications.My expertise in converting PSD files into manageable web optimized images through to my extensive knowledge of PHP, HTML and Javascript along with Wordpress back end coding allowed me to succeed in this role.

My previous diving experience, ability to teach and understand students needs drew Ocean Quest to my use as a certified PADI MSDT instructor in their shop. As a part time instructor my competence underwater and in the classroom proved to be an asset to Ocean Quests large student roster. It is my experience as not only a dive instructor but an avid diver and commercial diver that allows me to thoroughly educate divers in safe practices and dive theory.

New Wave Dive actively sought me out as a short term contract commercial diver due to high recommendations within the commercial diving circle. New Wave needed a diver that was willing to work long hours, work in stressful situations and had a strong grasp on fluid dynamics and aquatic physics.As the primary diver my duties included tasks such as re-floating sinking docks, large repairs on general marina infrastructure underwater and the occasional boat repair.

Cultivate IT was in need of a skilled and self managed contractor during an extremely busy period and as such sought to hire me to fill the role. My previous connections with the owner of the company made me an easy choice for the company when it came time to hire an experienced independent developer. My role was primarily related to PHP, Coldfusion, Javascript and custom Wordpress development on existing sites though I did do a full build for one of their clients.

14 years of previous experience in the Signage industry allowed me to secure this role as Operations Manager at Scott Paragon. The company had grown well beyond its current locations capabilities and staffing requirements and as such needed an experienced manager to help facilitate the transition.During my 6 month duration at Scott Paragon I was a key person responsible for assisting and organizing the move from one location to another while also overseeing 8 other employees to ensure clients projects were still completed during the transition period. This also involved hiring and firing individuals based on competence, experience and general fit with the companies new ideology.My employ was unfortunately cut short due to unforeseen family circumstances.

As the sole employee at this new company I was involved in every aspect of a clients request.My previous experience in the Signage industry made me a perfect fit for this role. Having had in depth experience in sales, site checks, computer design, plotter and large format printing operations as well as sign making and installation experience I was hired on the spot despite several weeks of previous interviews with other potential employees.The only reason my time with Impact! was so short was due to a location change which made the commute to work 1.5 hrs each way.

This job was amazing and a lot of fun however it was only a short term seasonal position. Given my current employment situation and the job specifics I immediately jumped at the opportunity for a location change.My duties with Undersea gardens primarily involved putting on informative shows through wireless communications while underwater in an aquarium. 6 times daily, 6 days a week I would introduce the tourists and public about the native aquatic sea life in our area. This involved working with 4 giant pacific octopus, 3 wolf eels, dozens of crabs, sea anemones, sea urchin's and other various fish species. I was also part of a team that provided daily maintenance for the underwater habitat, filtration systems, and general operational functions of the aquarium.

Much like my role at Ocean Quest I was hired due to my diving experience as well as education as a s PADI Instructor.My role was to assist as a short term seasonal instructor for a leading diving company in Vancouver. Having acquired services and equipment from the company for many years they recognized my potential as an instructor during their time of need and took me on part time.

Fresh out of commercial diver training this company picked me up based on the teachers recommendations. Though I was a "greenhorn" this company took my diving schools recommendation to heart and picked me up. It wasn't long before the company saw my potential as a competent and experienced diver. Within 6 months I was promoted to dive supervisor ahead of other candidates that had been with the company for longer due to my organizational skills and leadership abilities.I left Pacific Works to travel as the company went through the terms of a contract renewal with the governmental fisheries department of Canada.

Pelagic Dive Services was the umbrella company for several other dive services like Pacific Works. During my down time at Pacific Works I was hired as a contractor for Pelagic to assist in underwater construction operations due to my diving abilities and conformity to guidelines and safe practices as well as my general competence.

My long background in signage and sign design led me up the ladders of Fastsigns hierarchy quickly. My experience with Illustrator and Photoshop along with several other software programs designed for sign manufacturing along with my hands on experience in sign production and installation aloud me to guide our team towards specific goals.After 3 years at the company the massive growth forced the owner to create a position for a Production Manager within the company. Our original four employees had become twelve employees and organization and leadership was needed as the owner was so focused on developing the business itself. I was the perfect fit given my time with the company and my broad experience.I left Fastsigns to pursue a new career in diving on great terms and much support from my employer. I have in fact worked as a contract designer, printer and installer on several projects since my departure as a full time staff member.
