As a chart retrieval specialist I retrieve and review medical records from a variety of healthcare facilities in central Kentucky for the use of data collection, auditing, and insurance company purposes. I am able to manage my time effectively by working independently to complete assigned pull lists by their deadline and consistently exceed company set goals. I have worked with and have experience with a wide variety of EHR systems including AllScripts, ECW, Azalea, Amazing Charts, eMDs, IMS, and more.

Through this internship, I worked under the Respiratory and Sleep Department Manager and learned the ins and outs of heading a department and the various administrative tasks associated with it. I also completed a few small projects including compliance review, writing employee emails, reviewing data, building Excel sheets, and reviewing files for Joint Commission and CAP. I also completed a project on onboarding a new physician and marketing the new service provided to the surrounding area.

During this internship I greeted and screened patients coming in for appointments, learned how patients are registered for therapy and verified through insurance, including authorizations and referrals, and completed a project on patient compliance and quality improvement within the clinic.
