I oversee the daily operations of a multi-organizational, federally-funded maternal health research initiative to improve postpartum care and education. My job responsibilities include:Project Oversight: Manage the project budget, timelines, recruitment, and study procedures. Supervise the hiring and training of research team members. Lead data analysis with proficiency in R.Strategic Planning and Implementation: Identify and strategize solutions to systemic barriers in care transitions and health education. Collaborate closely with the Principal Investigator on study design, data analysis, and study implementation across multiple healthcare settings.Stakeholder Collaboration: Facilitate productive meetings and cross-cultural collaborations between U.S. and international stakeholders.Educational Material Development: Design multimodal, bilingual educational materials for patients and healthcare providers from diverse communities.Research Publication: Draft research manuscripts for publication. Prepare abstracts and presentations for national and international conferences. Assist with grant applications and funding reports.Regulatory Duties: Prepare study protocols and regulatory board submissions. Maintain project management binders and study databases.

I took on this voluntary role to engage early-career employees in building a supportive office culture and expanded the program to additional divisions in the Department of Medicine. I facilitated monthly meetings for employees to connect with each other and develop new research and professional skills. I coordinated courses on clinical implementation research and data science for new employees in collaboration with the Research Director of the hospital division and a Senior Research Scientist.I helped develop a program for early-career employees to learn from senior faculty about job skills and important academic and professional topics.

I was promoted to Project Coordinator within 6 months for superior performance.

I collaborated with other Indigenous health scientists on a national project funded by the Robert Woods Johnson Foundation to examine current Indigenous health and socioeconomic issues. I assisted in developing recommendations for health policy, funding, and research to support Indigenous communities. I screened 100s of scientific journal articles for a systematic review of Indigenous mental health research and help synthesize the resulting data.

I conducted an original mixed-methods research study, in which I designed all aspects of the study. I designed novel measures and analyzed data using my programming proficiency in R. I completed an academic manuscript and thesis defense, and presented my findings at a department research symposium.

I collaborated with a research team of psychologists and data scientists on a review project of over 40k publications using Natural Language Processing. I completed an independent research project examining mental health inequities and solutions in Indigenous communities globally. My research skills and responsibilities included project development and implementation, research strategy, computer programming, data analysis, database development and management, academic and technical writing, and national conference presentation.
