Our largest fundraiser, Yoga on the Steps is a one hour yoga class followed by breakfast and a Healthy Living Expo. We hold this event in Philadelphia, Denver and Washington, DC. The other large event is our annual Butterfly Ball. The Butterfly Ball consists of a silent auction and live auction, make a donation and a full program honoring four breast cancer survivors. I’ve been with the organization for over 3 years in multiple positions and have had many interns helping me with my work. I’ve never had an intern as professional and hard-working as Sydney Licht. Her dedication to her work and the cause goes unmatched by any other and the quality of her work exceeded all my expectations. Sydney joined out team in the midst of our Yoga on the Steps expansion and she was able to make connections in new cities and recruit fundraising participants. Using her great communication skills, she was also able to acquire many donations, sponsorships and in-kind product donations for the events by making cold calls, sending emails and completing grant applications. Social media is a huge part of the promotion of these events. Sydney single-handedly ran our Yoga on the Steps facebook page. She posted the perfect balance of fundraising pushes and content that was of interest and relevant to the yoga audience. In regard to our gala, Sydney researched and solicited companies for product and gift certificate donations to create original packages for our silent auction. She also did all of the data entry for these items and crafted promotional descriptions to be used on the night of the event. There was no job too big or too small for Sydney and she never let a single ball drop. I’ve written these letters for many colleagues, interns and vendors, but I’ve never been able to say with as much confidence as I can about Sydney that she will be an asset to your team.
