Learning that there is not much civility in civil litigation. Helping people who needed a lawyer but often couldn't or wouldn't pay for one. Some of you still owe me -- you know who you are. Not enough trials on the civil side, and when you do go, it's usually pretty boring.

Paying or not paying claims, depending on the circumstances. Driving around writing estimates and cringing every time the wind blew. There are a lot of trees between Oak Harbor and the Canadian border, and quite a few houses under said trees.
