Compile and maintain data, track all relevant information, and report on NPRI, GHG, Output-Based Pricing System Regulation (OBPS) and Ontario’s Emissions Performance Standards (EPS). Provide leadership and guidance to operators and supervisors respecting waste water discharge, and water quality requirements, and submit quarterly MEWS reports.Report spills to environment to the Spills Action Centre and implement mitigation measures or develop corrective action plans as necessary.Liaise with regulators and lead regulatory inspections with the Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Environment Conservation and Parks, Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission, and implement corrective action plans as required.Develop and implement Environmental Best Management Practices Plans for Waste Management and Fugitive Dust Control measures.Act as Radiation Safety Officer for the site.

Sarnia

In this 90-day contract position I provided environmental support for the Department of Fisheries and Oceans operations within the Central and Arctic Region.I developed and implemented environmental management systems to manage hazardous materials and hazardous waste that included guidance documents, standard operating procedures and training programs. I advised and collaborated with environmental staff on best management practices related to storage and transportation of hazardous materials, and environmental audit reporting best management practices.

Calgary, Canada Area

As a Regulatory Advisor for Newalta EHS-Oilfield, I provided Environmental and Health and Safety direction to the operating staff. This leadership role was based out of Newalta’s Corporate Office in Calgary. Routine functions included procurement of operating permits for Oilfield facilities, wells and pipelines. In this role I also performed regulatory training of Newalta’s staff and liaised with regulators for Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

Lambton Generating Station

In this contract role I assisted the operations team on environmental issues related to the coal fired power plant. The role also also required me to act as the central contact with the various regulating bodies on behalf of the power plant. I was also tasked with developing technical specifications & administration of environmental projects involving external consultants and contractors. I was required to retain and manage contractors selected to resolve environmental issues at the plant. Other duties included reporting on various provincial and federal regulations that impact the plant, assisting various operating groups at the plant with continuous improvemnt systems, maintaining ISO14001 systems, and procurement of environmental certificates of approval. I was Involved in the planning and execution of the asset preservation and layup of the generating station.

Corunna, Ontario

General Manager of Clean Harbors Hazardous Waste Landfill. This role entailed overall responsibilities over the hazardous waste landfill site, including; the financial performance of the business unit, the responsibility of the Health and Safety of employees within the landfill operations and the environmental performance of the business unit. Responsible for 30 employees encompasing operations, administrative and laboratory staff in a union environment.

Corunna Ontario

The position required monitoring of risk management programs and mentoring employees in environmental standards for various sites within British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario. Key aspects and responsibilities of this position included procurement of Environmental Approvals for various types of hazardous waste facilities, managing Environmental Management Systems for throughout Canada, management of environmental challenges at various locations throughout Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia.This role required advising Executive Staff (sales, service and operations) on opportunities to advance business development on existing and emerging regulations promulgated by the federal government and the province of Ontario. The role also required me to manage environmental consultants retained by the hazardous waste landfill and incinerator operations that focused on the following disciplines: ground water, surface water, biomonitoring of soil/sediment, landfill cap investigations, ambient air monitoring of landfill operations, incinerator annual stack testing.
